Production Update 209: Books and Orientation!

I wanted to record a video this week, but the week took a bit of an unexpected turn. We had a death in the family so we spent some time away this weekend helping to go through some things and just to support other family members and plan for a funeral later this week.

I completed 2 more chapters in my book on animation production and have crossed the hallways point. I am on pace to finish the book while on vacation, which will help me form a route on episode 2 for Cosmic Rage.

I also completed my orientation for my online class, which is a go at your own pace, traditional animation class. I plan on documenting the progress of the class and hopefully recording my work as I go through it. The first video/lesson is planning out a shoe animation with timing charts and such. This will be a good way to knock off the rust and also try out some new tools, AnimDessn, a plug in for animating in Photoshop and also my new Cintiq which I haven’t used nearly enough since I purchased it. I look forward to sharing everything with you! Let’s get to work!

Convention Schedule Update!

With things returning to normal, I wanted to give a quick update on my convention schedule for the summer. I had to cut back on my convention appearances due to the wedding, so I missed a few earlier in the summer. Fear not! I have submitted panels to a few conventions in the latter half of the summer and fall.

This year I am polishing up a couple of my panels that I run at various conventions, the History of CGI in Anime and also my J-Rock panel. I am also revamping my animation panel, giving more insight to the animation process, workflows and more. As of now I don’t have a concrete schedule or any confirmed dates as the conventions I applied to are still in the process of reviewing and choosing their schedules.

I will provide updates as soon as I can and look forward to sharing convention updates with you all!

Post-Wedding Quick Update

Hey everyone! Long time “no post” right?

Our wedding was fantastic and ran smoothly. No issues at all and it was fantastic to see so many of our friends and family in one place. The downside was that we didn’t get a chance to talk to everyone as much as we would have liked. We had a blast unplugging for a week after the wedding on our honeymoon. We got outside and did all kinds of hiking. We talked about so much stuff it felt like we were dating again, which makes sense, because so much of our conversations lately have been dominated by house and wedding stuff over the last year. Getting a little sentimental already, right? Anyways, I will be back Monday with a video post and also inform you all of what is coming up.

I appreciate all of your support and continuing to check out the blog and see where things are at.

Time to get back to work!

Production Update 206: Art Show Preparations

May is shaping up to be quite the busy month, both personally and also for Cosmic Rage. Script 2 is still in development, I have received some good feedback from trusted friends and still need to dive back into it and polish it up before jumping into storyboards.

May is also a big month because Cosmic Rage will be showing at it’s first film festival and I will be attending. I spent this week laying out a lot of production art for an art show this month as well.

I have pages prepared and dropped them off at the printer to get ready. I still have a couple more that I want to lay out. Those pieces would show more of the production of a scene, from illustration to inking, coloring and compositing. I look forward to sharing more about this process soon!

Craziness!

Production Update time is upon us once again. As you may have noticed, things have been a little inconsistent the past couple weeks. There are a lot of life things going on right now, my wedding is getting closer so we have some things here and there to wrap up. My sister is also expecting their first baby before our wedding yet and on top of that, I am putting the finishing touches up on a freelance project and starting a new teaching assisting session for animation.

With all of that going on, things aren’t all that quiet on the Cosmic Rage front. Episode 2 has a draft for the second episode, which I have gotten some really good feedback on. The first episode has been accepted into it’s first film festival so there have been some things behind-the-scenes that need to get taken care of in terms of getting marketing materials emailed over. Did I mention that Cosmic Rage also has it’s first gallery showing as well next month? There are a lot of exciting things going on.

I have talked about doing some behind-the-scenes videos as well and in terms of being realistic, those may have to wait another month or two until the wedding is wrapped up and things just settle down a touch. I have been brainstorming a lot of things I want to share so I appreciate your patience, it means so much to me.

Production Update 205: Script Draft is Complete!

The first script draft for episode 2 is wrapped up. I am passing the script off to a couple other script-writers and film-makers for them to take a look over it and try to poke some holes in it in case I missed something or if I need to clarify areas that pop up. I am very excited to be sharing it with people and having them taking their first look at it.

I am going to give them some time to look over the script, so in the mean time, starting this weekend, I am going to be laying out files for an art show in May at a local coffee shop. It’ll be the first time that Cosmic Rage artwork will be hanging up for people to see and also see the process and behind-the-scenes type work for the project. Everything will be ready to go after the weekend to take to the printer.

I am going to do some behind-the-scenes content on the art show and the preparations, so I will have some new video content coming up next week. Thank you for your support! Good things are coming 😀

Production Update 204: Script Near Completion

Production Update time once again, let’s do this! I spent time this week working on the script and pushing it towards completion. My goal is to wrap it up this week before a local film-maker meet up so I can have a few people give it a look over and poke holes in the story. Since I am so close to the project it is good to have a few more sets of eyes and perspectives on it. I am very excited to meet up with the crew again and for us all to check in on each others progress and talk about each of our projects.

Once the script is being passed around to fellow film-makers to look at, I will be spending some time working on getting things ready for my art show in May, where I will be showing Cosmic Rage.

Outside of the script work, I have been pushing ahead on a freelance project which will go towards paying for voice over work for episode 2. I am very excited to be getting things near completion so I can begin storyboarding and drawing. Thank you all for your support!

Production Update 203: Script Work

Last week there was some work to do on the back end of the site, routine web maintenance, so I didn’t get a chance to update. So let’s get into it!

I started working on polishing up the script for the second episode. It has been a while since I had a chance to look at it so it was a nice time to work with it some more and get familiarized with the contents again. I got about half done with it this past week, so my goal is to finish it up by the weekend so I can get some more eyes on it to look at and see if they can poke some holes in it.

While the script will be with a handful of people to take a look at, I will be spending the time after that to prepare for a local art show, giving Cosmic Rage the chance to get in front of more people but also to help explain the animation process to people who may not know. I am very excited to see my work hanging up in a venue again 😀

With convention season approaching, I’ve been working on getting a few panels submitted to some conventions I have planned out to travel to. Most of my convention season is going to be late summer and into the fall since this is a pretty busy summer but you will get a chance to see me at conventions in 2017!

I am starting another freelance project which is needed. Since my Patreon page hasn’t quite covered my VO costs for the second episode, I needed to pick up a project. This will also help with my convention travel this summer as well so it’s just a small price to pay. But in terms of timing it works out really well since the script will be making the rounds to trusted friends and writers and while some files will be at the print shop for the art show.

Thank you everyone for checking out the blog and as always, thank you to my Patreon supporters for their continued support!
