Down with the Sickness

It has been a while since I posted so I wanted to wrap up the holiday weekend with a production update and share my absence. Shortly after attending Nebraskon, I came down a case of con plague and I was shelved for a few days. Then we started to travel to my sister’s house for the holidays.

Over the holiday weekend I have been working with some of my voice over talent and getting some paperwork in line and getting scripts and questions resolved. I brought my tablet along to do some work while on the holiday break but after being full strength for a couple days, I caught something else and am under the weather again, which is why I am writing this weeks update as opposed to hopping in front of the camera again. Once I am back up and running, I will recap Nebraskon and share more information about episode 2.

I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday! Talk soon 🙂

Production Update 221: Budgets and Conventions

This past week I had a work retreat so I was offline and unplugged for a couple days. After the work retreat I had some catching up to do on my TA work. Anyways, I got my voice over budget put together and have heard back from most of the voice actors. The plan is to be reaching out to them this week and start getting materials put together to send out.

This weekend I have a convention, Nebraskon. I am looking forward to going to Nebraskon again, it is one of my favorite conventions to check out. This year I am presenting three panels, two of them are on animation.

Other than that, last week was a little hectic but I am looking forward to pushing on this week and getting more elements put together for the animatic for episode 2.

Production Update 219: Thumbnails are Done!

Little late with the production update this week, been feeling a little under the weather the past couple days. Anyways, as you can see by the title of this blog post, the thumbnails for the second episode are all done! I’ll be sharing more of this very soon. So what is the next step? Well, I am planning on reaching out to voice actors over the weekend as well as audio production personnel and getting everyone on board again to start production.

I’ll also be working on fleshing out more of the shots for the first scene in episode 2 and preparing an animatic. If you aren’t sure of what that is right now, don’t worry, I’ll get you up to speed with some more behind-the-scenes content. Now that production is starting there will be more content coming. I am very excited to share some new stuff with you all. Video update coming at you next week again! Stay Tuned!

Production Update 217: Studio is Back

Recently getting over a cold, so no one wants to hear that during a video update. Let’s just be honest 😀 So you will have to wait at least a few more days to see my beautiful bald head, unless you watch a previous update. The studio space is put back together, a little unorganized but the desk and book cases are back in spots and there is room to get my second monitor up so recording won’t be too far off, actually planning on doing some recording tomorrow night. Sleep was a priority over the weekend to get back to health.

Over the weekend, I was a guest on a local podcast, in which we recorded two episodes so it was a good chunk of Saturday. If you want to give it a listen, you can find it at the Sioux Empire Podcast. The first episode focuses on more news and local events, next weeks episode will be based more towards Cosmic Rage and nerd culture.

I pushed forward on storyboards this week, wrapping up another couple scenes, again, I will get more into this soon. I want to make sure I cover a little more of the script-aspect of episode 2 before moving onto the next stage of the process.

Thanks for checking out the production update!

Production Update 216: Studio Coming Together

The process of storyboarding is continuing! I have moved onto the second scene and am close to finishing it up. This past weekend my wife and I took our last weekend trip and headed to Minneapolis for a concert and some hiking. We made some time Saturday morning to sit and enjoy some coffee and work on projects, in my case, I continued to work on storyboards. I promise I’ll break these down more soon, which leads to the next item up for the week.

Last week I had to take apart the studio to get the carpets cleaned so my desk and everything got moved out of the space.

My plan is to get everything put back in place in the next night or two so I can get my mic and everything set up for recording. I do have some videos I need to get recorded and uploaded, I promise those will be uploaded real soon 😀 I really appreciate your patience! My plans for the upcoming videos include an updated Patreon video for episode 2 and also more of an in depth look at the script for episode 2. Let’s get to work!

Production Update 215: Storyboarding Begins!

Hey everyone! I was intending on doing a video blog for the week but my studio has been rearranged for some carpet cleaning and with several other house projects going on, it might be easier to do a written blog post.

This past week I started storyboarding for episode 2. Currently I have the first scene storyboarded, of course this can still change but the concepts and ideas are there. I will get more into this in the future when I dive into some video content about storyboarding and discussing how the process is going.

I also mentioned that I have been reworking Patreon and I have my new structure in mind, which will be launched in a couple weeks. I appreciate everyone’s support and look forward to sharing more about Cosmic Rage with everyone!

Let’s talk conventions now. This past weekend I was in my hometown Watertown for a one day convention. It was a a great turn out and the venue had plenty of space and room for panels, artists, vendors and more, they even held a cosplay competition and had a fantastic turnout. The local conventions are always a blast and it’s great to see everyone and talk animation, gaming and more with them.  I also received word that my panels have been accepted into Nebraska so I will be hosting several panels there on animation and even my j-rock panel for some Sunday fun. This will be my third year at Nebraska and I look forward to it every year.

Up for this week, is to continue to making progress on storyboards and getting the studio put back together.

Thanks for visiting! Back to storyboarding I go!
